Each cycle, we head down to the library filled with excitement because Ms. Johnstone makes each visit an experience. A couple of cycles ago, Ms. Johnstone read the book "Tea Party Rules" to our Explorers. Last cycle, the children wrote, illustrated, then made a short video of their tea party rules to send to the author. As we approached the library during our latest visit, we saw a note taped to the door. The note was for us! It was a note reminding the children of the tea party rules that they came up with on our previous visit. It also asked us to knock on the door. The door opened and there was Ms. Johnstone dressed in fancy schmancy clothing including a feather boa and long white gloves. We walked in, first seeing Mrs. Kiessling's huge smile, then our eyes popped as we saw the fanciest tea party ever. There were white tablecloths with beautiful floral centerpieces. There were place settings of matching plates and napkins and dainty tea cups and saucers. There were homemade blueberry scones on cake stands, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies on decorated platters, and delightful cucumber and cream cheese finger sandwiches. There was warm apple cider poured from elegant tea pots into each little cup. It was as though the book came to life and we stepped right in. Do you know of any librarian who would put such heart into creating a such a memorable visit to the library? It was a perfect afternoon...again! Thank you so much to Ms. Johnstone and Mrs. Kiessling for all they do for our little Explorers!!!
